Anna Hanger
Atlanta, GA
Providence Christian Academy
Graduation Year: 2009
Anna has raised and given away more than $600,000 to children and families whose lives have been devastated by pediatric cancer. A brain cancer survivor, herself, from the age of 12, with significant complications and their resulting health problems, Anna founded Anna’s Angel Fund to help children with pediatric cancer who do not receive the same love and support she has received. When people ask what they can do for her or what gifts they can give her, Anna suggests they make a donation to her Angel Fund. She decides how the money is to be used; and, with very few exceptions, all of her financial aid/gifts are anonymous. www.annasangels.org

Jennie Natoli
Metuchen, NJ
John F. Kennedy Memorial High School
Graduation Year: 2009
Jennie identified a community service program, “Tooling Around the Township”, for her National Honor Society chapter to adopt. An initiative of local government, it identified projects in needy areas of the community that volunteers could work on to improve the neighborhood. She worked out all the details, presented the idea to her NHS advisor, and recruited approximately 60 student volunteers. Half cleaned up a local park, leveled playing fields, and moved boulders so children would have a safe place to play; the rest cleaned up an old meeting house that had been used by an early civil rights group and converted it to a community center.
