Katrina Korcel from Liberty High School, Bealeton, Virginia

As the chairperson for her school's National Honor Society's community outreach committee, Katrina organized a Children's Music concert that involved over 100 members of her high school's wind ensemble, orchestra and chorus. The event was extremely successful and provided children the opportunity to participate in an instrument "petting zoo". Following the concert, Katrina generated a guide to help continue the tradition she has initiated.

Katrina will attend Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in the fall.



Katie McKissick from Laurel High School, New Castle, Pennsylvania

Laurel's community service project is "Partners in Agriculture," a program developed to form an alliance between her chapter of Future Farmers of America and the community. She recruited business leaders, community members and FFA alumni to become "partners" with the high school chapter and arranged for these partners to speak at meetings and to help individual future farmers.

Katie will attend Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.



Christopher Meshanko from Camden County High School, Kingsland, Georgia

Christopher's innovative and independent ideas for serving his community are well documented by his work with Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity and the Peer Information Network. He has headed several fundraising projects for Cystic Fibrosis and developed "Operation Quit", a project to educate high school students about the dangers of smoking.

Chris will be a freshman at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia.



Michelle Lynne Morris from Reynolds Jr./Sr. High School, Greenville, Pennsylvania

Michelle volunteered at the Good Shepherd Center, assembling 170 backpacks of school supplies for underprivileged children in the community. She began the Educational Equipment Endowment Fund in August and recruited churches, service organizations and students to help finance the project. Michelle eventually raised more than $1,600 for this worthwhile project. She also created a detailed documented summary to serve as a resource guide for future coordinators of the project.

Michelle will attend Grove City College this fall.



Olushola Olorunipa from Florida State University School, Tallahassee, Florida

As an active member of PRIDE, one of the largest drug prevention programs in the United States, Shola has emceed drug conferences in Cincinnati and Louisville, trained new teams in Tennessee and Philadelphia, and monitored several PRIDE programs in Florida.

A talented musician, Shola composed and performed the official theme of the 2001 We Touch The World conference in Kansas City.

Olushola will attend Harvard College in the fall of 2001.
